I have a confession to make...

I love all the parts of wedding photos - bridal portraits, ceremony, reception, cake cutting... but details & flat lay photos are one of my FAVORITE parts! There's something so intimate and special about details. Not only do I get to hold some of your most precious items (wedding rings, heirlooms, favorite perfume, vow books) I get to create something beautiful from them on a day that can never be recreated.

Another reason I love details shots is capturing parts of the day you most likely didn't see. I love to show parts of what the day actually looked like: glasses scattered on the table while everyone was on the dance floor, kids eating yummy wedding cake, or a pile of beautiful Polaroids taken by friends and family. They won't be photos you hang on the wall, but they help to tell the greater story of your day.

Ok, now for the fun part...

Detail shots are so much fun, and there's about a million variations you could do!

I recommend having a designated box for all your items for both safekeeping as well as easy access. No worries if they don't all fit, but make sure the little items are stored in there safely!

Here's a list of things you might want to include in your details box

  1. Invitation suite with multiples if double sided
  2. All 3 rings and ring boxes (I recommend buying a ring box that fits all three!)
  3. Other jewelry like necklaces, earrings, cufflinks, etc.
  4. Heirlooms
  5. Shoes
  6. Something borrowed/something blue
  7. Vow books
  8. Perfume/cologne
  9. Lipstick of the day
  10. Flowers/florals
  11. Veil
